Joy Is…(II)

“Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.”  Marianne Williamson

Joy is, part 1.

We had a typical weekend, full of running (for her), cycling (for him), new CSA goods arriving in the kitchen (for us both!) and a little dose of late birthday celebrations. It’s been a solid few months where routine is the norm, DC is unpleasantly hot but pleasantly “home”, and everything is in place.

Joy is a word we just don’t use often enough, but if it came to mind, it would encompass this whole summer thing:

Joy is a counter and fridge filled with food (and dirt) that came straight from the Good Life farm.

Joy is life giving you another chance with a basil plant (see above: Farmer’s Market-style CSA loot). Number three, I think we have a good thing going so far (read: you survived the weekend)!

Joy is absolutely having to eat that peach above the sink to avoid a trail of sticky, delicious peach juice.

Joy is a rare {birthday celebration} fancy dinner date, suit-and-tie not optional.

  3. Joy is raising my daughter to be a sweet, compassionaite, healthy, happy and smart little girl.

    Loved that post.

  4. I almost teared up at the menu, that is so sweet.

You’ve made me so happy with these things! Joy is counting your blessings!

  5. Sounds like a very joyful weekend! Love the personalized tasting – how cool is that? Also drooling over all of that farm-fresh produce on the counter!

  6. Love this! Joy is cuddling on the couch with Spike. 🙂

  7. Oh boy, look at all that produce!!! Joy is sitting by the campfire, listening to the rush of water and not having cell phone service. Joy is taking a moment to breathe and realize we don’t have to rush around every second of every day. Joy is looking at the one(s) you love and realize that THAT is the most important thing there is.

  8. Mamacita

Love this post; yes joy is the little things in life. This weekend joy was buying a soft blue blanket for Baby C., reading the papers on the deck with dad and a great chat with you last night.

P.S. May I borrow the book, wild, when you finish it? Thanks!

    Love, Mamacita

  9. Joy is…everywhere, if we look hard enough for it. 🙂 love this post!

  10. Right now? Joy is my ‘me’ night I am having in lieu of mid-week date night in with M…since we can’t have that this week, I am embracing this! And joy for me is also SUMMER. In every way!
