Rockin’ with Sony & the Mile-High City

I’ll cut to the chase: I have two big announcements today!

This Wednesday dosed me with the anxiety/I’m-way-too-excited energy that makes it hard to sit through an office day.  We’re leaving for New Mexico tomorrow morning (no, that’s not one of the announcemnets)! Translate that to “this is my Friday” ! I used up some of that energy on a 19-mile bike ride this morning with D & Kate.  Now, I’m chugging through the afternoon powered by Starbucks and their double-brewed (did you know that?) Iced Coffee because it is also that day where if you have a hot drink in your hand, you are undoubtedly insane.

We’re only escaping this DC heat to enter the desert, but believe you me, that dry Western air cannot surround me soon enough!

In fact, that brings me to Announcement #1…

We’re moving to Denver on July 31st!

Without going into every contemplative, over-analyzed, repetitively-calculated detail regarding this relocation, just know that my New Mexican roots have become increasingly anxious to return to the West. I can’t wait to be surrounded by the Rockies, hiking/biking/running trails, and ski resorts (nothing compares to that Colorado snow). If you’re in the area and want to join me for a ride, run, hike or food party (or all of the above!), let me know. 🙂

Yes, there are some things (friends, monuments, running groups, self-serve frozen yogurt joints!)  about DC that I will miss. A LOT. You know who you are. And Lincoln, please come with me so I can still run around you, and up your steps, and watch the sunrise over the top of your Greek Doric columns! Please? Alright fine, I’ll come back to visit you.

With my new “home” on the mind, I picked the Denver Rock ‘n Roll Marathon as my goal race for the Fall. I’ll be out there in plenty of time to readjust to the high altitude, and there is no better way to learn some new city streets than by running them.

So, with that being said, I bring you Announcement #2…

I’ve teamed up with SONY, running the Denver RnR as their “Sponsored Blogger” (see badge to the right)!

You’ll hear more about this soon; just know you’ll eventually be seeing some V-Logs (ah!) from me and my training-gear. I’m going to ask in advance that all refrain from critiquing my gait, stride and/or I’ve-been-running-for-10+ miles glamour shots. Thanks. 🙂

Too funny. I made the move from DC to Colorado 5 years ago. I love Colorado. It’s soooooo different. I hope you love Denver!! Less-humid Colorado leads to easier runs eventually 🙂 But the altitude may kick your butt for a couple weeks.
